I have fought Obesity my entire life, I am 54 years old. I am finally getting an amazing tool to help me with my eating addiction. I was bullied all my life by those around me, family and by people who don’t even know me. My weight never held me back from living my life until about 18-19 years ago. I was a CNA and loved caring for people of all ages. I had an amazing baby boy 16 years ago and he has never seen me real active and living life. I am having Gastric Bypass done Sept 9th! I want to be able to really do things with my Billy!! I thank my husband, David for sticking by me thru sickness and health for the past 17 1/2 years. I will be 2 1/2 weeks post-op for this event and I will be out there walking!! I would appreciate any and all SPONSORS and encouragement on this important journey in my life. I am walking (Virtually) with the amazing team Center For Bariatric Surgery Lifespan ! They have an amazing program from start to finish! I can’t wait to get to the finish line!!
I have been a RN for 28 years. Most of my adult life I battled obesity. In 2011 I had RNY gastric bypass. I lost all my excess weight and ran a half marathon to celebrate my 1 year “surgaversy”.
The surgery changed my entire life. I had been a critical care nurse. I left it to become a bariatric post-op bedside nurse. Years later, I am the bariatric coordinator at my hospital. Helping people on their journey from obesity using bariatric surgery is my passion! I love sharing stories with our pre-op patients on how this tool has helped me.
You have this! Make exercise a priority. Set a goal to celebrate your 1 year “surgaversary” (I recommend something fitness related).
